Cloud Migration

A cloud migration is the process of moving data, applications, and IT systems from on-premises servers to cloud-based infrastructure.

The Problem

The client’s existing on-premise infrastructure was becoming increasingly difficult and costly to maintain as business demands continued to grow. Legacy servers, network services, and traditional domain-based workstation management limited scalability, operational efficiency, and overall security posture. The organization needed a modernized IT environment that would better support long-term growth, improve manageability, and align with evolving security standards.

The Solution

The Miller Group completed a comprehensive cloud migration project designed to transition critical infrastructure and services from on-premise systems to a modern Microsoft 365 cloud environment. The project included migrating network shares to SharePoint and OneDrive, moving DHCP and DNS services from physical servers to the SonicWall, reconfiguring network printers and scanners, and converting workstations from domain-joined to Entra-joined devices while migrating user profiles.

In addition, legacy physical servers and unnecessary appliances were decommissioned, and internal network equipment — including switches, access points, and printers — was reconfigured to align with TMG best practices for security and manageability. Microsoft 365 licensing, Teams, groups, permissions, and cloud security settings were also configured to support the client’s business operations while improving overall security, access management, and collaboration capabilities.

The Result

The completed migration provided the client with a modern, scalable, and cloud-based infrastructure that improved operational efficiency, strengthened security, and reduced reliance on aging on-premise hardware. By transitioning to Microsoft 365 and Entra-managed devices, the organization gained improved collaboration capabilities, simplified device management, enhanced data accessibility, and a more secure technology environment positioned to support future growth.
